  • Business Facilities, a national economic development publication, issued its annual 2010 Rankings Report and Tennessee, along with many cities throughout the state, earned top honors.  The Volunteer State was ranked number one in the nation for Automotive Manufacturing Strength, number two for Economic Growth Potential and number five for Best Business Climate.   • Area Development magazine awarded Tennessee a "2010 Silver Shovel Award".

  • Tennessee Ranked 3rd in Best States for Business 2010 in Chief Executive's 6th annual survey.

  • Tennessee was ranked in the top five states in Site Selection's annual Governor's Cup award.

  • Interstate 40 in Tennessee has been named Best Road in the US for the 4th year in a row by Overdrive Magazine.

  • Interstate 40 in Tennessee has been ranked the best road in the U.S., according to the nation's truck drivers in Overdrive Magazine's Highway Report Card. This is the third year in a row that I-40 has ranked number 1.  For the 10th year in a row, truckers rated Tennessee's overall road system as 3rd best in the nation in a tie with Georgia. Overdrive Magazine conducts the annual survey which ranks the nation's roads by those that use them most. 

  • Site Selection's 2008 State Business Climate survey ranked Tennessee as the second state in the country with the best business climate. Among the strengths cited by numerous corporate executives were the state's incentives offerings, tax climate, work force, higher education resources and economic development team.   • Tennessee is fourth in the nation for best business climate, according to a new survey by Development Counsellors, International. The comprehensive assessment polled corporate executives with site selection responsibilities to determine the states they perceived as having the most effective strategies and techniques in economic development marketing.
