Smokies eatery on TripAdvisor ‘Most Romantic’ list

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, an East Tennessee restaurant made Trip-Advisor’s Most Romantic Restaurants in America list for 2019.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro in Townsend claimed a spot on the list of 25, which was released at the end of January.

It was one of two restaurants in Tennessee on the list with the other being Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse in Nashville.

“As Valentine’s Day is the biggest date night of the year, we have surfaced a list of TripAdvisor diners’ favorite romantic restaurants in America,” said Bertrand Jelensperger, senior vice president for TripAdvisor Restaurants, in a press release.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro placed 24th out of 25. The rankings were based on millions of reviews and opinions of TripAdvisor diners.

“The 25 Most Romantic Restaurants in the U.S. list is based on reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor diners.

The ranking takes into account the quality, quantity and recency of reviews combined with the degree to which a restaurant is deemed ‘romantic’ based on a proprietary algorithm,” the release said.

“All restaurants featured have five locations or less, a minimum rating of 4.5 out of 5 bubbles, and have received at least 100 new review submissions between January 2018 and January 2019.”

The bistro features farm-to-table offerings, and the property also has a resort and cabin rentals.

Dancing Bear is offering a Valentine’s menu from Feb. 13 to 17 with four courses.

Some food items include beef tenderloin, seared seabass and others.

Valentine’s Day dinners start at $65 per person.
