Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg opens

The new Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg will delight tourists looking for a beach getaway in the heart of the mountains.

Gatlinburg's newest riverfront resort opens June 28 and is inspired by the "no worries," tropical vibe of singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett.

"We set out to create a mountain oasis, inspired by Margaritaville’s authentic ‘no worries’ vibe, where guests can choose a different way to chill each day, from enjoying the resort’s on-site amenities to having boundary-stretching adventures in the mountains,”  Bob McManus, president and developer of the Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg, said in a press release.

Margaritaville Resort Gatlinburg is minutes from Great Smoky Mountains National Park and within walking distance of Anakeesta Outdoor Theme Park.

The five-acre property sits on an island and has 163 rooms, many of which have electric fireplaces and private balconies.

There are 17 types of rooms, including several suites featuring adjacent sleeping rooms for kids or family rooms. There are two, two-bedroom suites, one named the "Coral Reefer."

There's also St. Somewhere Spa, a 4,000-square-foot full-service spa offering massages, steam showers, facials and salon services.

“People come in, I watch them, the first thing they do is smile,” McManus said.

The resort includes an in-house, full service kitchen, Land Shark Bar & Grill, a coffee shop and lobby bar.

Bob McManus said the 133,000-square-foot resort is a $35 million investment. His organization, the Knoxville-based Marlin Hospitality Group, licenses the Margaritaville Island Hotel and Margaritaville Island Inn in Pigeon Forge.

There are 12 Margaritaville lodging locations in the Southeast United States and Caribbean and 20 additional properties being developed.
