Ober Gatlinburg will now feature summer tubing

Ober Gatlinburg is adding summer tubing as an additional mountaintop activity this summer.

The new attraction will be adjacent to the Ski Mountain Coaster, the highest coaster in elevation east of the Mississippi River.

A Magic Carpet of fun

The Magic Carpet will continue to carry riders and their tubes to the top of the tubing hill where riders will cruise back down on one of four 250-foot lanes.

The slippery lanes made of synthetic materials allow riders to feel the sensation of being on layers of compact snow. The Neveplast tracks also preserve the environment and will be removed before the snow flies for snow tubing.

While summer tubing may be new to East Tennessee, it is popular in Europe and many other parts of the world. Neveplast is an Italian company that started in 1998 making artificial surfaces for skiing and snowboarding. The company quickly gained popularity and incorporated tubing in 2001.

Ober's 46th year

The 2019 summer season will mark Ober Gatlinburg’s 46th year as a summer destination offering the Ski Mountain Coaster, Wildlife Encounter, Indoor Ice Skating, Alpine Slide, Scenic Chairlift, Ice Bumper Cars, Amaze ‘n Maze, Chair Swing, Water Raft Rides, Mini Golf and other Kiddie Options.

This year, Ober will host two German festivals:  Mayfest Spring Celebration (May 17-27) and Ober’s 10th annual Oktoberfest (Sept. 27-Nov. 3). During both festivals, guests will enjoy live music by the The Smoky Mountain Oompah Band, German cuisine, Kinderland (fun games for kids), and a Bier Garten will feature different German beers, foods and family friendly activities during this festive time!
