Newest reporter covers science, tech, culture

Reporter Vincent Gabrielle, who wrote this piece about an extraordinary effort by the National Park Service to save endangered bats in the Great Smoky Mountains, is the Knoxville News Sentinel’s new science, technology and culture reporter.

It’s a broad title for a big job — telling the story of the incredible scientific work that’s taking place in East Tennessee and the people behind it. Vincent’s task is to make high-level science and technology relevant to the whole community. He’s focused, too, on how great research institutions like Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee shape the culture here. Vincent is an accomplished journalist and scientist, and he has a gift for making complex stories engaging and accessible to a broad audience. We’re confident you’ll enjoy his work.
