WonderWorks brings augmented reality to exhibits

WonderWorks, the upside-down adventure, is putting itself at the forefront of STEAM education with a new season of exhibits that will impress its visitors. The indoor amusement park continuously adds new exhibits to inspire young minds and entertain families looking for an experience to enjoy together.  These new hands-on exhibits are unique and incorporate the latest in technology like augmented reality and digital imaging.

WonderWorks Pigeon Forge newest exhibits set to open this Spring include:

Professor Wonder’s Adventure:  An interactive way to learn how WonderWorks came to be! This spatial augmented reality adventure will take guests on a 3D experience that transforms the area they stand in, into an “unreal” experience where they will see the history of WonderWorks.

Dig It! Interactive Sandbox: Explorers will experience land, sea, and safari in this futuristic exhibit. Guests hold the power to manipulate sand to produce unique environments reflected electronically over top of their sandy creations. Using light projections, each hand motion and sand movement will produce unique environments for guests to explore.

Google Moon & Google Mars: WonderWorks’ astrology and space zone offers many ways to explore the planets. Using Google’s new 3D software, guests can get up close and personal studying the Moon and planet Mars.

Draw Alive: Design creatures and watch them come alive in their own giant wall-sized environment. Create unique and colorful creatures, place them under our scanner and watch your masterpiece come to life as they swim, fly and move throughout the world.

Doodle It: With the recent addition of the arts added to STEAM education standards, WonderWorks is proud to introduce even more artistic components to the attraction. This backlit drawing board invites artists of any level to make their mark and show off their creativity for guests to view and continuously add to.

“We recognize that our guests visit us often, sometimes multiple times a year” said Ed Shaffer, General Manager, “We want to honor our mission by not only providing the fun factor, but also to offer an innovative and educational experience for all ages to enjoy. Our latest additions are on the leading edge of technology, spur creativity, and who doesn’t love to play in a sand box?”

In addition to new exhibits, WonderWorks list of special events continues to grow. To provide a fun learning environment for everyone, WonderWorks recently added Sensory Nights, where exhibits are altered to provide limited stimulation to adults and children with special needs.
